Finding Your Library Scent
Leather Or Wood
Pure Leather and Black Suede bring the leather chairs. Signature Santal and Chandan bring the wood shelves. Rouge Royale adds the warmth of amber.
Dry Or Rich
Signature Santal is the driest and cleanest. Rouge Royale is the richest, with saffron and amber. The leathers and Chandan sit in between.
Room By Room
Leather suits a home office or reading corner. Sandalwood fits living rooms and bedrooms. Rouge Royale works in a den or dining room in the evening.
Two Ways To Use Every Bottle
Each bottle can also be used as a room spray with the included fine mist attachment. Because the formula is concentrated and oil-based, a light spray is all you need to fill a room. Avoid spraying directly on leather, vinyl, wood, or painted surfaces, and be cautious over bare floors which can become slippery with repeated use.
What Makes A Room Smell Like A Library
Old libraries smell the way they do because of what fills them: leather bindings and chairs, wood shelving, and paper that has aged for years. The result is dry, warm and slightly sweet.
Leather and wood scents recreate most of that on their own. A little amber fills in the warmth, which is why Rouge Royale sits here next to the leathers and sandalwoods.
These are rich scents, so they suit rooms where you settle in for a while, like a study, den or reading nook. A moderate setting is usually enough.
Our Best Library Scents
Cuero puro
Worn leather with a smoky bergamot opening. Rich and dry, like a reading room with leather chairs.
Gamuza negra
Velvety suede, amberwood and olibanum with a soft smoky edge. Darker than Pure Leather, for a den or study in the evening.
Sándalo Signature Santal
Dry santal and cedar. Clean, polished wood that is easy to run in a home office all day.
Chandan - Sándalo
Warm, rich sandalwood. Softer than the leathers, and a good fit for a reading corner in a bedroom.
Rojo real
Saffron, amber and cedar. The warmest scent here, for a den or dining room once the lamps are on.
Tips For Library Scents
Start In The Study
A home office or reading room is the natural place for these scents. Start there before trying them elsewhere in the house.
Pair Leather With Wood
Run Pure Leather in the study and Signature Santal in the hallway or living room. The two sit well together.
Switch With The Seasons
Rouge Royale and Black Suede suit fall and winter. Signature Santal and Pure Leather work all year.
Library Scent Questions
What does a library smell like?
Mostly leather, wood and old paper, which together smell dry and slightly sweet. Leather and sandalwood scents cover the main notes.
Which library scent is the lightest?
Signature Santal. It is a dry, clean wood scent without the weight of the leathers.
Are library scents good for a home office?
Yes. Pure Leather and Signature Santal are both easy to run at a desk, and neither one is sweet.
Which scent works best in the evening?
Rouge Royale or Black Suede. Both are warm and deep, with amber in the base.
Which size should I buy?
Start with 4 oz. for one room. Choose 8.5 oz. or 24 oz. for a larger study or more than one diffuser.
